Easy Steps To Make Sure Your Window Shades Measure Up

The easiest way to measure for shades is to bring in your old ones. Otherwise, follow these easy steps to measure your windows. When measuring, make sure you use a steel tape (do not use a cloth tape, as it may stretch).

You'll first need to decide if you want the shade mounted on the molding over the window, or inside the window molding.

Outside Mounting
For horizontal width (A), measure the distance between the outside edges of the mounting brackets.

For vertical length (B), measure from the top of the window shade to the top of the window sill.

Inside Mounting
For horizontal width (C), measure the distance of the window casing from one side to the other at the exact placement of the brackets. Do not measure at the middle or bottom of the window, as this may be a slightly different width than where the brackets are mounted. The brackets must be mounted on a flat surface and at least 1/2 inch deep from the outside edge of the molding toward the window pane.

For vertical length (D), measure from the top inside edge of the window to the top of the sill.
